Beryl Cook, the executive vice president and chief human resources officer for News Corporation, will resign from her position as of November 30, 2011. Cook will return home to be with family in the Asia Pacific region of the world. She will still be working with the company but as a human resources strategic advisor focusing on talent initiatives across the company.

“Beryl has brought curiosity, creativity and endless energy to her work. I have valued her good counsel and the progress she has made strengthening our ability to develop and connect colleagues, and provide dedicated people with great opportunities around the world.” Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and CEO of News Corporation said. “I understand her decision to leave New York and am delighted she has agreed to continue playing an important role within the company.”

Before Cook became a training and human resources executive, she originally worked as a journalist with the News Corporation. Cook has held positions of leadership within the company in locations across the globe. Those positions and locations include News Limited in Australia, the Fiji Times in Fiji, STAR TV in Asia and BSkyB in the UK. Cook moved to New York in 2007 in order to work as the Chief Human Resources Officer as well as a member of the Office of the Chairman.

Cook said: “My 22 years with News Corporation have given me the privilege to work with first-rate leadership teams and HR professionals across the Company. It has been an incredible adventure working in so many locations and with so many talented people. Making the decision to step back has been difficult, but, after more than 20 years on the road, I would like to be closer to my family, and to roll up my sleeves again to work directly with some of the talented teams in the international businesses.”

The current senior vice president of global compensation, Jeff Mook, has been named the company’s executive vice president and chief human resources officer to replace Cook. Mook was added to the company in March of 2010 after 25 years of service with AT Kearney and Towers Perrin as a consultant and a partner. Mook also served in various human resource positions with ACNielsen, Reader’s Digest, DuPont and The Interpublic Group.

“I am very pleased with Jeff’s appointment and believe he will be an outstanding leader,” said Chase Carey. “I have valued Jeff’s counsel and contributions in his short time with News Corporation and I look forward to his playing a key role moving forward.”

Cook said: “I am thrilled with Jeff’s appointment and I look forward to ensuring a smooth transition and supporting him in his new role. He is a talented leader who will help News Corporation become an even more successful business around the world.”
