Cumberland County will soon be losing its human resources director, Joseph Rossi, as he will be headed over to the Vineland Public School District instead. Rossi, who is 51 years old and lives in Mays Landing, will start working at the largest school system for the county on the 14th of May. This particular district already employees about 2,000 individuals. The Board of Education got together and made the decision to vote and ultimately hire Rossi for the position. He will be replacing Maryann Greenfield, who has decided to take a position within the Camden school district just a few months ago.

With his new position, Rossi will receive a yearly salary of $115,000. This will be a total increase of nearly $3,000 more than Greenfield was making in the same position. The reason he will be earning a bit more, according to the board members, is because he has more experience than she had for the position. Rossi was excited to learn about the vote that was made. He says that he looks forward to working with everyone, which includes the students, staff members, administration, faculty, and the board members as well. He knows that he has the right experience to fill the position and believes he will be able to solve problems and any conflicts that may arise. Rossi was hired at Cumberland County in December of 2009 and did find it hard to leave the county, as he enjoyed the people he worked with, but realized it was time to move on to a different position and take what was offered.

Rossi said that it was, of course, a difficult decision to choose to leave the county, especially because he loved the type of work he was doing before. While he finds it hard to walk away from them, especially during a time when work still needs to be done, but he knew that this was an opportunity that needed to be taken. As he departs from the county, they are still left with some serious personnel issues, along with other problems.

The county is, of course, said to lose Rossi. They said it is definitely a huge loss that the county is dealing with, stating that he was spectacular at what he did. Rossi attended both Glassboro State College and Rowan University and then graduated in 1983. He earned his master’s degree in 1990 and also received a doctorate from the University of Delaware. He has worked within a number of different positions, which includes teaching journalism at several community colleges. In the meantime, he has also worked as a referee for a number of sports, as he thoroughly enjoys several types of sports.
