Exide Technologies Creating 200 Jobs
Post Views 0Exide Technologies is getting $34.3 million in federal stimulus funding to launch a new production line in Columbus, Georgia, creating 200 new manufacturing jobs.
The workers will produce affordable lead-acid batteries incorporating advanced carbon technology, for industrial and transportation uses.
Founded by W.W. Gibbs in 1888 as the Electric Storage Battery Company, Milton, Georgia’s Exide Technologies is the world’s second-largest producer of automotive lead acid batteries for automotive and industrial applications. It has operations in 80 countries, and fiscal 2009 net sales of $3.3 billion.
