Spanish Train Company Bringing 125 Jobs to Milwaukee
Post Views 1Talgo Inc., a Spanish-based train company, is opening a new plant in Milwaukee that will immediately create 125 new jobs. Chief Executive Officer Antonio Perez said Tuesday the facility will be used to assemble and maintain high-speed trains in the United States.
About 450 more supply jobs will be created to support operations, Perez said. The state of Wisconsin won the plant when taking advantage of an offer from Talgo that the first state to buy a high-speed train from the company would be the site of the company’s assembly plant. Gov. Jim Doyle’s administration proceeded to purchase two trains from Talgo.
Talgo hopes to sell trains to other states through President Obama’s high-speed rail initiative, which includes $810 million to create high speed rail service from Milwaukee to Madison.
