Maryland’s Unemployment Hits 5.8%
Post Views 0Maryland’s unemployment rate reached a 15-year high in December, climbing to 5.8%.
According to data released today by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate climbed from 5.3% in November, and last hit 5.8% in October 1993.
The number of unemployed workers in Maryland increased by 9,800.
The state’s unemployment figure for December is up from 3.6% in December 2007. The national unemployment rate grew from 6.8 to 7.2% in December.
