Firm to Bring Up to 100 Jobs to Iowa City

A manufacturer of cardboard promotional displays used in retail stores is bringing as many as 100 new jobs to Iowa City, Iowa.

Alliance Display, a division of paper manufacturer Rock Tenn, plans to open a packaging plant in Iowa City. Company officials expect it will create between 80 and 100 jobs.

Alliance Display’s VP of operations, Tim Fialko, says workers at a facility leased by the company will package displays made at Alliance’s main factory in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, before being shipped to customers and their distribution centers.

Fialko says the company is hoping to expand its customer base eventually to other Eastern Iowa companies.

RockTenn, based in Norcross, Georgia, also has a consumer packing plant, Folding Carton, in Clinton.
