The SEFCU credit union has donated $100,000 to Northeast Parent & Child Society to go toward the building of the SEFCU Job Center.

The center will be on the first floor of Northeast’s Career Development Center in Schenectady, New York.

The new Career Development Center will allow Northeast to more than double the number of Schenectady County youth receiving agency career services from 100 to 250 per year. Thirty-two staff will be assigned to help at least 150 youth each year find and maintain well-paying jobs.

At the SEFCU Job Center, youth will participate in a minimum of 200 annual training classes, including SEFCU’s Financial Literacy curriculum. Construction of Northeast’s Career Development Center is scheduled to begin later this year. It is expected to be finished by 2010.

The Career Development Center is part of Northeast’s $4 million “We Build Futures” capital campaign.
