ASCO Power Technologies will expand its operations in Welcome, North Carolina, investing $11.4 million and adding 328 jobs over five years.

ASCO makes emergency and standby power transfer equipment. It is a subsidiary of electronics giant Emerson, and is based in New Jersey.

According to the governor’s office, the new jobs will pay an average of $43,924 per year, not including benefits, well above Davidson County’s average wage $29,432.

The state awarded a job development investment grant that could be worth up to $2.5 million to ASCO if it hits its job creation targets. County-level incentives totaled $160,000.

ASCO will add up to 100,000 square feet to its existing facility in Welcome, with construction set to begin in 60 to 90 days.

ASCO already employs about 211 people in North Carolina, including 190 already in Welcome.
