Clarksville Gas & Water Employees Laid Off

Fifty-four employees of Clarksville, Tennessee Gas, Water & Wastewater have been notified today that their jobs are being eliminated.

City officials are combining the water and wastewater divisions, and hiring 35 people.

The changes will save about $1 million per year.

The employees were given severance packages relative to their number of years of service. They also will get preference in applying for the new Gas & Water jobs, as well as other openings at other city departments.
