American Airlines Freezes Hiring, Salaries for Non-Union Workers
Post Views 1American Airlines has announced hiring and salary freezes for most non-union positions. About 19,000 workers will see their wages frozen.
Fort Worth, Texas-based American, a subsidiary of AMR, will not continue annual 1.5% pay increases for independent, management or support staff positions.
Certain employees who are currently below the pay-range maximum will be provided with 2009 pay progression increases of 40¢ per hour, until they reach the maximum rate for their level.
There will be a “limited exception process” for critical business needs.
