The New York City seal. Ten seconds later, the guy on the left killed the Indian with the stone-on-a-rock he's holding, and stole the Indian's land. Of course, it may be the Indian's fault, as he has a bow but no arrows.Construction industry lobbying group the New York Building Congress says Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s proposed 30% cut to the city’s capital spending budget will cost 10,000 construction jobs.

The group predicted last year that 30,000 construction jobs would be lost in the city through 2010.

Forty-two City Council members signed a letter to the mayor by Councilman Lew Fidler, a Brooklyn Democrat, criticizing the cuts.

The mayor’s office said capital cuts would not immediately affect jobs in the construction industry, as it would take time for the cuts to filter into the marketplace.
