Missouri flagThe State of Missouri, which lost 11,000 jobs in March, is implementing a Governor Jay Nixon’s Next-Generation Jobs program, creating summer internships for 16-to-24-year-olds.

Federal stimulus money will fund hundreds of temporary teen and young adult jobs.

The internships will provide youths with job skills, as well as something to put on their resumes.

By the end of last week, almost 6,000 youths had applied to the program. So have 876 employers.
