Montgomery County, Ohio Sheriff to Cut Jobs

The Montgomery County, Ohio Sheriff’s Department is laying off 15 employees, including deputies.

Montgomery County will cut its 2009 budget by 2.5%, necessitating the cuts, which take affect June 1st.

County officials expect to announce further layoffs in other departments over the next few weeks.

Ohio’s Montgomery County had a population of 559,000 in the 2000 census. It was named in honor of Richard Montgomery, an American Revolutionary War general killed in 1775 while attempting to capture Quebec City, Canada. The county seat is Dayton.
