plasan_160x120The Pentagon has upped its order for armored troop vehicles built in part by Bennington, Vermont’s Plasan North American.

Wisconsin’s Oshkosh will build an additional 1,700 additional Mine Resistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain-Vehicles at a cost of $1 billion. That on top of the 2,244 vehicles already ordered.

The contract will create 150 jobs at Plasan.

Plasan America is a subsidiary of Israel’s Plasan, a vehicle manufacturer established in 1985. It develops, manufactures and assembles custom-built vehicle armor systems and chassis up-armor designs. Plasan is a non-public company and is wholly-owned by Kibbutz Sasa, a communal village of some 100 families in Northern Israel.
