censusbureau_160x120As we’ve been reporting the past few months, the U.S. Census has been hiring temporary workers throughout the United States to conduct surveys in the coming months. The Commerce Department released a study today which finds that the Census Bureau will add up to 635,000 temporary jobs by May. The report predicts that this hiring activity will cause the country’s unemployment rate to decrease by several tenths of a percentage point. Census spending is predicted to increase the nation’s gross domestic product by one tenth of a percentage point during the first quarter of the year and by two tenths of a percentage point during the second quarter.
