Consumer Cellular Opens Call Center, Adding 100 Workers

arizonaflag_160x120A new call center has been opened by Consumer Cellular Inc. in Phoenix and the company plans to hire more than 100 workers for the facility.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, Consumer Cellular has already hired 24 people for the call center and 80 more hires are expected. The facility, which is near Arizona State University, stands on 39,000 square feet.

Consumer Cellular is headquartered in Portland, Oregon and is a nationwide provider of cellular phones and services.

“Our Phoenix expansion allows us to meet the demands of our expanding customer base by providing additional time zone coverage, increased data security and emergency back-up customer support when needed,” said John Marick, CEO of Consumer Cellular. “We chose to locate the new call center in Phoenix because of its excellent talent pool and business-friendly environment.”

Founded in 1995, the privately held firm had revenues of $100 million in 2009, up from the $65 million it earned in 2008, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.
