southcarolina_160x120FPL Food LLC, a Georgia-based beef producer, is expanding its operations and adding 75 jobs in South Carolina.

The company plans to reopen its processing facility near Columbia, which has been closed twice in the last 2 ½ years, according to South Carolina’s The State. FPL Food plans to transfer 75 employees from a facility in Augusta to Columbia and also hire an additional 75 workers to staff the plant.

The news was announced by the South Carolina Commerce Department on Tuesday. FPL CEO Francois Leger explained the move in a press release.

“This move allows us to expand production and logistic capabilities for our customers,” Leger said. “Lexington County offers us an excellent business environment and offers a building that fits our specific needs. We look forward to bringing our new facility online, and we appreciate all the support we have received from state and local officials.”

FPL Food produces high-quality, value-added beef products. Its products include corned beef hash, marinated beef steak tips, pre-seasoned frozen beef patties, precooked roast beef and pre-seasoned ground beef.
