BureauOfLaborStatistics-1According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, environmentally related jobs, or “green sector” jobs, will increase more than all other job markets by over the next five years by at least 38 percent.

The news comes out in the recent “Current and Potential Green Jobs in the U.S. Economy” report from the Bureau.  The largest increase in jobs will be in fields related to renewable energy, retrofitting of residential and commercial areas, as well as renewable transportation fuels.

To keep up with the changing job markets, universities and other educational institutions, such as DeVry, have created programs focused on green sector education.

According to Jesus Fernandez, the associate provost for curriculum at DeVry University, “Education needs to reflect this trend for the future leaders who will build economic and technological capital while considering the impact on social and natural resources. DeVry University’s green curriculum adds focus on sustainability and environmental impact to the core business and electronics engineering technology degree programs.”
