Georgia’s law to use E-Verify identification system before employing new workers has hit the agriculture industry hard. Many of the undocumented immigrants have left the state to prevent themselves from getting caught. As they constituted most of the farm labor force of the state, more than 11,000 of those positions are now left unfilled, according to a study. This has caused tons of crops to rot in the farm itself.
