Third Annual List of Worst Bosses in America Released

The Mayor of Sheboygan, Bob Ryan, has landed on the 2011 list of 100 worst bosses in the United States, according to the Sheboygan Press.

The 2011 list is the third annual list released by the website eBossWatch. The list was released late last week, with Ryan coming in at number 70 on the list. Cited as reasons for Ryan’s ranking were accusations from a former city human resources director, Angela Payne, that she was sexually harassed by Ryan. Also cited was the fact that there was a settlement by the city with Payne for $310,000, most of the money paid by the city’s insurance carrier.

eBossWatch claims that it is “the leading career resource that enables people to anonymously rate their bosses and evaluate potential employers.” The site also says that the list is organized by “an eBossWatch panel of workplace experts (who) selected and ranked the worst bosses from across the country.” This information is from a press release issued by the website along with the release of the list.

Ken Kratz, the former Calumet County District Attorney, hit the list at number 24 for sending out 30 sexually harassing text messages to a domestic abuse victim. The text messages were sent out while Kratz was prosecuting the victim’s ex-boyfriend for almost choking her to death.

The state with the most bosses on it was California, coming in with 19 bosses, while Wisconsin totaled five bosses on the list. The five bosses on the list for Wisconsin placed the state at number five on the list.

The number one worst boss in the country is movie producer Jon Peters. He is followed by civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson.

The majority of the people who made the list seem to be on it because of sexual harassment charges filed against them. In a surprising twist, the well-publicized drinking history of Ryan was not mentioned as a reason for being mentioned on the list.
