According to US Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment costs for private-sector workers in the US increased 2.2 percent in 2011. BLS in January 2012 released its Employment Cost Index-December 2011 report. According to this report wages and salaries increased 1.6% and benefit costs increased 3.6% in 2011. Also private-sector employer costs for health benefits increased 3.5% in 2011. Employment cost of occupational groups and industry sectors also increased in 2011.
