GM Getting $335M to Build Battery Plant, Create 50K MI Jobs
Post Views 1General Motors is building a lithium-ion battery plant in the state of Michigan, to create the technology that is central to the new Chevy Volt and other electric cars.
“We think this is the next great industry of Michigan,” said Jim Epolito, CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “It should bring 50,000 jobs in the next five years.” Epolito says Michigan could be to batteries what California’s Silicon Valley is to computers.
State Senator John Pappageorge tells us General Motors is receiving $335 million in tax credits for this battery plant over a five-year period.
