kansasflag_160x120The Kansas City Star:  The message is jobs.  Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson, flanked by an airplane, dump truck and bus, signed a bill that will sink over $8 billion dollars into the Kansas transportation infrastructure.  The bill, as the Star reports, apportions cash for highway repairs and new construction, aviation projects and public mass transit.

Because of recent and ongoing budget problems, it was rumored that the bill would not pass.  However, in a still foundering national economy where few constituents have escaped the sting of the recession, it is no surprise that lawmakers found a commonality of purpose and backed the bill.  Think:  “I need a freakin job” ala Buffalo, NY.

Every Kansas county is guaranteed a minimum of $8 million in transportation projects, according to the post.
