Those in Beavercreek, Ohio, who have been victimized by the massive national layoffs may just get another chance at a career. The area recently opened a new school for training intelligence analysts for government and business.

Advanced Technical Intelligence Center for Human Capital Development (ATIC)

ATIC begins a “boot camp” on February 23 that hopes to train analysts and help them acquire security clearances on an accelerated schedule, according to Harrel van Norman, leader of the ATIC’s workforce development and cyber security programs. The 10-week program is aiming to help workers who lost their jobs in the current recession. Students need not have any prior experience working in intelligence gathering or electronic sensing technology.

For individuals who haven’t lost their jobs, but are interested in the career opportunities offered by the school, ATIC hosts a nine-month program which consists of classes two nights a week. They hope to have master’s degree programs in the near and have partnered with The University of Dayton for a master’s in cyber security.

The school has an auditorium, classrooms, and training labs which were constructed for use as top-secret space. It can hold military gatherings and intelligence industry conferences for the Dayton area, according to Hugh Bolton, CEO of ATIC.

ATIC is a not-for-profit school founded in 2006. So far, 28 students have graduated through the school, in conjunction with its partners Wright State University and Clark State Community College.

Though it began with federal and state funding, the school hopes to become self-supported by 2011 by student fees and revenue from hosting conferences. Find out all of the latest info at Employment Crossroads.
