californiaflag_160x120California added over 14,000 new jobs last month, a sign that its struggling economy may be on the road to recovery, writes the Los Angeles Times.  This is the second straight month to see the creation of new jobs, though the state has lost over 355,000 jobs this year alone.  The data was released this morning by the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics.

Unemployment still remains high in the Golden State, though, at 12.6 percent, the same figure reported last month, ranking it third in the nation, after Michigan and Nevada.  The steady rate is attributed to more workers re-entering the job search market.

One particular industry showed promise, according to the Times post.  Construction jobs, on the verge of near-extinction since the real-estate market crash of 2007, showed a modest increase.
