indianaflag_160x120About 280 new jobs are coming to northern Indiana through the expansion of medical device maker Biomet Inc.

According to the Associated Press, Biomet is seeking $26 million in tax breaks from county officials for the expansion. A spokesman for the company said Biomet would retain about 80 jobs at its Warsaw facility and other manufacturing jobs would be moved there from New Jersey.

The County Council is expected to approve the plan next month, said County Council President Bill Kolter.

Established in 1977, Biomet Inc. and its subsidiaries design, manufacture, and market products used primarily by musculoskeletal medical specialists in both surgical and non-surgical therapy.
