Mack Trucks Hiring 125 Workers at Pennsylvania Plant

Mack Trucks is hiring 125 additional employees at its plant in Macungie, Pa. The company plans to begin hiring the first week of October, reports the Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area.

Mack Trucks, which is based in Greensboro, plans to increase truck production at the plant.

“While the construction market remains very weak, we’ve recently experienced an uptick in order activity on the highway and refuse sides of our business,” Mack officials said in a statement. “Beyond the economic and market forces at work, we’re also getting a very positive reaction to our new EPA 2010-compliant trucks.”

According to the report, Mack Trucks enjoyed a 17 percent increase in U.S. retail sales in July. The plant in Macungie currently has about 750 workers. The additional jobs will follow the recent recall of 75 laid-off workers.
