Global Foundries_logoGlobal Foundries, the world’s first full-service semiconductor foundry, announced that it will hire  1,200 new workers  as it builds a massive chip plant in Saratoga County, New York.  Once the plant is  up and running the company expects to add as many as 450 more employees further down the line.

Daniell Pickett, III, Chairman and CEO of  Infrastructure Technologies in Clifton Park, said that the additional employment will bring positive impact to the community and to other businesses in the technology sector. “We help Global Foundries do what we do best. Build their infrastructure, be it work they do in their data center or around their network or their end user computing all of their employees depend on.”  Pickett’s company also expects to expand their workforce

Another company also expects to hire additional workers as it expands its operation. Kitware, a software company in Clifton Park that develops software tools freely available on the Internet for the medical and scientific communities, has experienced growth over the last two years and plans to continue hiring as a result. Lisa Avila, Vice President for Commercial Operations, said “We’re looking to hire 7 people now and we need about 25 next year.”
