SLChamber_logo The Salt Lake Chamber, Utah’s business leader and the largest statewide business association, announced that the organization plans to help businesses generate over 150,000 new jobs in the span of five years in the state of Utah. The Salt Lake Chamber and business leaders revealed that their new Utah Job Agenda would focus on creating more job opportunities for the people of Utah to reduce the alarming number of unemployed residents. Under the new Utah Job Agenda, the chamber has a 10-point plan that focuses on enhancing various areas particularly education, transportation, international, energy, business costs, corporate recruitment, immigration, tax policy, environment and rural development.

Lane Beattie, member of Salt Lake Chamber, said that the chamber would give its best effort to continuously look for job opportunities to pull down the growing unemployment rate of the state. “It’s time that we demonstrate our belief in ourselves and that we take the action that we need to put more people back to work.” Based on the state record, Utah now has about 102,000 unemployed people, the highest number in almost 26 years.

Beattie added that the chamber would also negotiate with various companies to steam up job creations. “We need to encourage businesses to step forward to help us with this right now. Yeah it’s a little risky up front, but it’s the synergy that delivers.”
