Valley, Alabama will receive two hundred new jobs at KMIN, USA, according to WSFA. The company is going to invest $17 million in the community. The company is an auto supplier that wants to revamp the Fairfaix textile mill and will begin production late in 2014.

The facility will be renovated over the next five months in order to make room for the auto supplier and its 200 jobs.

Valley mayor Leonard Riley said, “The company’s name is KMIN USA, INC. This will be their first USA plant, they are a tier 2 supplier and they will be investing $17 million into one of the old mill complexes we have in Fairfax and will provide up to 200 new jobs over a three-year period.”

The Chambers County economy was devastated when the textile industry left the area to go overseas. Valley leaders are thrilled that KMIN has chosen to renovate the building that once housed a textile company.

In the area, some 12,000 people were once employed in the textile industry. But, in 2007, all of the jobs disappeared and there was a 20 percent unemployment rate for the area. The unemployment rate has dropped to 6.3 percent as dozens of auto suppliers have come to the area.

Mayor Riley said that the city’s leaders are dedicated to creating an area that is friendly to businesses using incentive packages. KMIN hopes that have production started on auto supplies by November.
