airtranAirTran opened a new command center in Orlando this week that will bring at least 120 new jobs to the area.

The new Systems Operations Control Center will be used as a 24-hour command center for AirTran’s entire airline. Florida Governor Christ and Orland Mayor Buddy Dyer were on hand for the grand opening.

“Having 120 new jobs coming to the Sunshine State as a result of this expansion is everything that we’re all about right now,” said Crist. “It’s jobs, jobs, jobs. I think everybody understands and appreciates that.”

Crist added that the deal is a good example of a public-private partnership.

“This is a clear, prime example of where you have the city, the county and the state all pulling together with the private sector to do what’s right for the people of our communities,” said Crist.

Some of the jobs currently available include: Administrative/Professional and Technical jobs such as Staff Accountant, Manager of Compensations, Scheduling Analyst, Revenue Analyst. These positions generally provide support to airport and flight operations in areas such as Finance/Accounting, Information Technology, HR and Marketing. Other areas of opportunity include Customer Service, Ground Operations, Flight Operations, Internships and Maintenance.
