cummins_logoEngine maker Cummins Inc. is adding 350 jobs at its headquarters in Columbus Ind. The Indianapolis Star reports the company will spend about $5 million over the next two years to construct an engineering and design department.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is providing $5 million in tax credits as an incentive for the expansion.

According to the report, Cummins has been enjoying a banner year, largely as a result of improved foreign sales. Earlier this year the company said it was investing $100 million and adding 200 jobs at its Seymour Engine Plant over the next few years.

“Our success in our global markets has a direct benefit to Indiana where we are creating the kind of high-paying professional jobs that strengthen our community,” said Cummins chairman and CEO Tim Solso. “Simply put, growth in international markets like India, China, and Brazil create jobs in Indiana.”

Cummins designs, manufactures, sells, and services diesel engines and related systems.
