High Court’s Narrow Definition of ‘Supervisor’

According to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, a supervising employee is empowered by their employer to take tangible employment actions against victims. The Supreme Court has recently ruled in favor of this definition of the term “supervisor”. The position upheld by certain appellate courts and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has been disagreed with by the high court. These courts and the commission believed that a supervisor should direct and oversee the work of a victim.
